About the Author
Heather Dubrow, John D. Boyd, SJ, Chair in the Poetic Imagination at Fordham University, is the author of six scholarly books, most recently The Challenges of Orpheus: Lyric Poetry and Early Modern England (Johns Hopkins, 2008). Her other publications include the Evans edition of As You Like It, a co-edited collection of essays, the essay on Twentieth-Century Shakespeare criticism in the second edition of The Riverside Shakespeare, and numerous articles on Shakespeare, lyric poetry, and pedagogy. A poet as well as a literary critic, Heather Dubrow has also published a collection of her own poetry, Forms and Hollows (Cherry Grove Collections, 2011) and two chapbooks of verse; she is director of the Poets Out Loud reading series. Her previous academic appointment include the University of Wisconsin-Madison (where she was Tighe-Evans Professor and also John Bascom Professor) and Carleton College.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I really liked this book. Both characters were interesting and the writing really drew me into the book. I like Archer's writing lot. I find it easy to read, with interesting characters, and a smooth flow to the story. Two things that held this a little short of 5 stars for me, is that I don't find it credible that Nicole doesn't suspect who Erica really is. When you work for someone like Christine, and you're as intelligent as Nicole is, there's really only one reason she would ever treat an intern with respect. Yet Nicole doesn't speculate about it at all. Minor, minor detail. The other thing is that the anonymous interview at the end was a little predictable. I don't mind really. The entire story was really enjoyable and engaging, and kept me turning pages, not wanting to put the book down. Definitely recommended for a nice romantic love story.

The characters were flawed which made them great to read about

Having read several books by this Author I must say this is a bit different but still interesting. The Author took the characters from the usual and made them completely different. The characters were flawed which made them great to read about. You see them developing who they are throughout the book which makes you want to root for them but also get frustrated but love them the same. The description of the boss Christine was hilarious and had many funny moments. This book shows you the power of love and how it can transform a timid or even a strong woman and make them so much more. It was about loving and learning someone who opened your eyes to the world out there and to mostly be true to yourself. Overall this book was simple, sweet and funny. I received an ARC of this book in return for an honest review.

Cute romance!

I'm a fan of Ms. Archer's work and this falls in with her newer, romantic themed stories. Meaning not-erotic, so don't be upset if that's what you're expecting. This is a sweet story about two women meeting in the workplace and forced to work together under stressful circumstances. Of course that's not the whole story, and I won't be divulging more.

It's a fun bit of reading with characters you can probably relate to. Worth picking up for a light and easy read.

military strategy before the War for Independence (first)

I am doing personal research on military strategic thought at the time of the American Revolution / War for America. Frederick the Great, King of Prussia, was one of the most popular & prolithic military strategists at that time. However, since you don't want your enemies to know your moves & countermoves, you should seek to keep those strategies secret. One of Frederick's generals was captured carrying a copy of this limited printing & distribution text (51 copies). The Austrians translated and printed it in 1761 and the English in 1762. So it provides the only insight into Frederick's mindset for that time. His numerous other works were allegedly published posthumously after 1787.
This short book focuses on military thought by generals. It mostly covers operational considerations and battle strategy. It does discuss "projects of campaign" which was the operative term for "strategy" before the 19th century. It has encouraged me to rethink the most common criticisms of military strategy on both sides during the Am. Revolution. So I personally found this seminal work worth reading. And I plan to reread it for further clarification on military thought during the late 18th century.
RELATED WORKS being read at that time: Saxe's Reveries on the Art of War and Julius Caesar's Commentaries on the Gallic Wars. For a codified treatise drawing on all of Frederick's writings, please read Jay Luvaas' Frederick the Great on the Art of War.
CAVEAT: I neither served nor was trained in the military service. I did study corporate strategic planning for five years during the 1970s when pursuing a doctorate. I have been reading and speaking locally on historical topics for over two decades.

Good insights into military strategy

For those people who are interested in history and who enjoy reading first-hand accounts, this is fascinating reading.

You can see from the clearly set-out instructions to Frederick's generals as to why he is described as "Great".

I also found it interesting that this edition was first published in 1944 - about the time the US Army was looking at the invasion of occupied Europe. It was obviously printed to give Allied military commanders a background into German military thinking and strategy.

Interesting, but nothing you haven't seen before

While a useful translation of Frederick's Instructions, I'm sad to say that there is really nothing in this book that hasn't already been published many times over in other works about him and his army. Since it has instructions for his Generals from a particular time and relating to a specific campaign or plan, it is also not exactly helpful for someone trying to get an insight into 18th century warfare. I much more strongly recommend Frederick The Great On The Art Of War by Jay Luvaas.

About the Author

Charles W. L. Hill is the Hughes M. Blake Professor of International Business at the School of Business, University of Washington. Professor Hill received his Ph.D. from the University of Manchester’s Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST) in Britain. In addition to the University of Washington, he has served on the faculties of UMIST, Texas A&M University, and Michigan State University.
Professor Hill has published over 50 articles in peer-reviewed academic journals, including the Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Strategic Management Journal, and Organization Science. He has also published two college texts: one on strategic management and the other on international business. Professor Hill has served on the editorial boards of several academic journals, including the Strategic Management Journal and Organization Science. Between 1993 and 1996, he was consulting editor at the Academy of Management Review.
Professor Hill teaches in the MBA, Executive MBA, Management, and Ph.D. programs at the University of Washington. He has received awards for teaching excellence in the MBA, Executive MBA, and Management programs. He has also taught customized executive programs.
Professor Hill works on a consulting basis with a number of organizations. His clients have included ATL, Boeing, BF Goodrich, Hexcel, House of Fraser, Microsoft, Seattle City Light, Tacoma City Light, Thompson Financial Services, and Wizards of the Coast.

A classic for learning International Business!

I have used this book for my International Business course, for more than 15 years. Twenty chapters covering:
Globalization, National Differences in Political, Economic, Legal Systems, Culture, Ethics, Corporate Social Responsibility, International Trade Theory, Foreign Direct Investment, Regional Economic Integration, Foreign Exchange Market, International Monetary System, Global Capital Market, Strategy of International Business, Organization, Entry Strategy, Strategic Alliances, Export, Import, Countertrade, Global Production Supply Chain Management, Global Marketing, Global Human Resource Management, Accounting/Finance in International Business.

In addition, I have four teams with 4 or 5 students in each team, performing in-class exercises on: Jim Rogers, World Atlas, E-Leader, and International Trade. Students are mostly non-business majors, and they love this course. I will recommend this book to anyone who likes to learn the foundation of doing international business.

Must Buy for 1st Timers!

I am a first timer T-Ball coach. I volunteered to be the assistant coach and they were short on individuals so I had to step up and be full blown coach. I knew nothing. This book has helped out tremendously with everything from drills to running a game. I would definitely recommend this book to anybody. Of course, there are some things you're going to have to learn on your own and some things that you will be able to explain better to children (for instance, on how to hold the ball they explain it by keeping the thumb and pinky low and the other three fingers on top holding the ball on the pads of the fingers. Instead of telling 4, 5, and 6 year olds this it's easier to tell them to make a "tiger claw" and that's how they hold the ball) but overall this book will get you to where you need to be!

A Good T-Ball Reference

This was one of the books I chose for my inaugural season as a T-ball coach. In my search for reference material I've found that for as many books as there are out there for all manner of sports, books on T-ball are in short supply... good ones anyway. This book runs through coaching T-ball from beginning to end. Not just on the field stuff but pre-season, pre-game, post-game, parent relations, etc. I doubt just one book will contain all the information that a new coach needs but this one comes pretty close. If your a new coach I'm sure you will find alot in this book that will help to prepare you for the upcoming season. The reason for only 4 stars though is that I would like to see the drills and exercise section enlarged (surely the author, who is the co-founder and president of the T-ball USA association, can come up with more drills or ideas for creative learning than what is presented in this book). Overall... probably the best choice for T-ball reference I could recommend at this time.

Don't bother

This book is horrible. I endured through the first chapter and had to stop. The grammar is terrible - my guess is that this was translated from a different language by someone who doesn't speak English that well. Painful to read. Don't waste your time or money. Who knows if the equations are even accurate - I didn't bother to work through them.
