Many of the best examples office buildings, movie theaters, hotels, and churches are still in use. Deco architects, artists, and designers drew on European styles but were most committed to a style that grew organically, as they saw it, from their native soil. Two themes bound Deco buildings and their decorative schemes together: a regional pride that tied buildings to their specific locales and functions, and a growing national symbolism that asserted the buildings' identity as uniquely, independently American. Glorious deco detail.

Architectural photographer Carla Breeze has focussed her camera on the best seventy-five Art Deco buildings across the Nation and produced a glorious book of color photos that perfectly captures the style. I really liked this book because she concentrates on the architectural detail of each building (with 450 photos) and in many cases, when this detail is on the outside, it is just not viewable from the ground.

The introduction has an interesting eighteen-page photo section dealing with materials: metal, concrete, terra cotta, mosaic, glass, wood and stone. I found this very useful when looking at the images. Each building starts on the spread (though some have more pages) with a street address and some background text and captions for the photos. The elegant layout does not interfere with the wonderful buildings (a tip of the hat to book designer Robert Wiser). Could anyone take a better photo of the stunning Niagara Mohawk Power headquarters in Syracuse on page seventy-three, I doubt it.

To complement this lovely book have a look at Rediscovering Art Deco USA: A Nationwide Tour of Architectural Delights by Barbara Capitman, Michael Kinerk and Dennis Wilhelm, a methodical nationwide survey, though it concentrates on commercial buildings rather than houses. If you are Deco spotting on the road leave a space in the glove compartment for David Gebhard's excellent The National Trust Guide to Art Deco in America (Preservation Press) if it's not in this book then most likely it's not worth looking at.

Superb book on American Art Deco Architecture

This is the finest book presently available on American Art Deco Architecture, in my opinion. Beautifully photographed and printed in Italy (288 oversize pages in full color), it's a must have if you have an interest in Art Deco and/or Architecture.

All the finest American examples are here, the Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation Building in Syracuse, the Chrysler Building in New York, the Louisiana State Capitol in Baton Rouge, and the Eastern Columbia, Wiltern Theatre/Pellissier and Bullocks Wilshire Buildings in Los Angeles, just to name a few. Most of the buildings are photographed from the outside as well as inside, with numerous detail photographs of doors and moldings.

Carla Breeze is an architectural photographer by trade and she does a superb job with this book, I especially like the fact that perspective control has been used in the photographs (all the vertical lines are parallel) which makes for a much more pleasing look. The sleek and modernistic style of Art Deco, popular during the 1920's and 1930's, has yet to be matched, in my opinion, and Ms. Breeze captures the essence of it skillfully.

JAZZ AGE BEAUTY

This is quite simply a fantastic book, the images ara crisp and well presented and the text is easy to navigate. Every major Art Deco building in American is chronicled and presented in its best light. It is such a relief that so many of these great buildings have survived, unlike many other architectural styles, Art Deco has always had a huge throng of admirors, people who loved the style and fought very hard to help preserve it. Everytime I set foot in one of these great buildings, like the Louisiana State Capitol or Radio City Music Hall or the Chrysler Building I am reminded of the shear artistry that went into these buildings and am disappointed at the austere, crass styles that have followed. I highly recommend this wonderful book, frankly it is the best I have seen on American Art Deco.

Excellent Short Reading

This book is a treasure and one to which I will keep referring. It brings the Jewish Tabernacle worship to your Christian everyday prayer life. Jon's writing and teaching in this book brought together a perspective about The Tabernacle and Christian prayer that I would have never been able to bridge on my own. The book is very short, but to the point and it has helped my prayer life tremendously.

Stedman's Medical Dictionary 28th ed.

The dictionary is pretty good, once you adjust where to look for certain illnesses (a syndrome may be listed under diease or vice versa). The biggest disappointment is the inability to download the info onto my PDA. I downloads everything but the data file and there is virtually no support to figure out the glitch. The error message i receive is not identified on the software website. Beat. I still support the dictionary but don't fuss over the PDA stuff unless you are saavy.

I had bought an old edition of stedman's medical dictionary before on my freshman year as a nursing student and did help me a lot, this copy is for a friend of mine whose also a medical student and very glad that I recommended it for her, very good resource book for medical students.

This came in a timely manner, it was used, but had a perfect cover on it, maybe it wasn't used, i can't remember how i came up with that conclusion, however it was in mint condition, no pages torn or even bent/crinkled. I couldn't have gotten a better deal on it. and it was packaged perfectly. will definitely buy from this person again.

About the Author
Bert Rosenbloom earned his Ph.D. at Temple University. He currently is a professor of marketing and Rauth Chair in Electronic Commerce in the LeBow College of Business, Drexel University, and editor of the Journal of Marketing Channels. He has served on the editorial boards of several publications including the Journal of Consumer Marketing, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, and Journal of International Consumer Marketing. Dr. Rosenbloom also serves on the ad hoc review boards of the Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Marketing, and Journal of Retailing. He is former president of the International Management Development Association and former vice president of the Philadelphia Chapter of the American Marketing Association. Dr. Rosenbloom is a past member of the Board of Governors of the Academy of Marketing Science. Dr. Rosenbloom is a leading expert on the management of marketing channels and distribution systems and the author of 10 books and more than 100 articles. His book Marketing Channels: A Management View, now in its sixth edition, has been the leading college textbook on marketing channels for over two decades. His book Marketing Functions and the Wholesale Distributor has been acclaimed in the wholesaling sector for providing the industry with new concepts and analytical methods to increase productivity in wholesale marketing channels. Dr. Rosenbloom has consulted for a broad range of industries in manufacturing, wholesaling, retailing, communications, services, and real estate in the United States and abroad. Great book

I can't remember keeping a book after passing a class, but this is one of the few exceptions. The information the author provides is clear, and interesting! I enjoyed learning how different companies move products and all the complicated procedures involved to get items to the final consumer, or other businesses. Also, the real-world examples that are discussed in the cases will not change often, the only issue is the companies that are presented may have gone bankrupt. It may seem like common sense after reading, but many people would never think of how many of the concepts discussed in the book are used in the real world. I recently graduated with a BS, and feel I learned the most from this book than any one I read in the past. If you are interested in logistics and/or marketing, this will probably be the most useful source of information you will need.

I truly loved this book, probably the best book I have ever read.

Mark Kimmels' book explained in common words what he experienced. I do plan to read his other books this summer.

I am grateful for the help he received to write the book from "The One" Archangels, Lords of Light, Sirians, Pleiadians, Andromedans, Arcturians and many many others. I would love to one day meet these wonderful beings.

The best and most concise overview of Earth's 3rd to 5th dimension transformation

This is the best book about how and why ET's, angels and the earth are related. This book has great clarity about how and why the ET's and angels are on earth. Earth's history, purpose and how we fit in. How time works in the 3rd dimension and higher dimension s. Why we are moving from the 3rd dimension to the 5th dimension. Recent events that enabled Earth to move from the 3rd to higher dimensions. A list and summary of the channeled messages from others. Mark is a talented writer that is easy and interesting to read. He did not say things over and over, but was very clear and concise. I have read over 30 of books about "the shift", moving to the 5th dimension, our 3rd dimension purpose, Pleiadians, and/or earth's role and Mark has provided the best and most concise overview.

I finally understood how to make a laser!

This book helps to understand very clearly the basis of today's technology: thin films and lasers. This book opened this challenging area to my understanding. Science is about sharing knowhow: thank you for this great demonstration.
