Since childhood Solano has always been fascinated with salvage and junkyards. His father would go to find parts for his car and Solano would immediately go off on his own. For him, it was like the greatest playground in the world. He would find a unique car and pretend he was driving. Then he would pull up the seats and open glove boxes, looking for treasure. Solano's father finally got tired of roaming the yards looking for him, calling out his name when he wanted to leave, so he devised a plan. He would honk his horn three times. When he did this, it meant we were ready to leave. Solano's mother would get mad because his clothes would be dirty and she had a difficult time getting the rust out from when he would brush against a really rusty car. Solano only wishes he had a camera back then to have a record of those days, but never thought about it at that age. Some people look at an old, rusty, and dented car and think what a piece of junk, but Solano sees at them differently, as he is sure others do. They have an aura about them. He would look at a vehicle that was smashed and try to guess how it got that way. What did it hit? What hit it? Some cars looked like they were just neglected and left to rot away. Some looked like they could be driven home. In 2005, Solano decided he wanted to build a junkyard model and his first attempt was pretty bad. But he kept trying and eventually he had it down to a system. He did one, then another, and before he knew it, he had a small junkyard. He kept adding more cars and trucks to it, and then he started making buildings and accessorizing the yard. Solano started with plastic 1/25 scale models and then decided to look for already damaged die cast 1/24 scale Danbury and Franklin mint, and other die cast models and would turn them into "junkers" as well. Now Solano does all scales 1/43rd and larger up to 1/12 scales, so if you like old junk cars or just old cars in general, you may like this book.

Art of this beholder

These models look like real cars, but they are not. Manny is a true artist in this field of models and diorama's, which he also builds. Today Friday Sept. 4, 2015 for three days you can see his work live at the car show at the Sheridan in Mahwah New Jersey on route 17 near route 287 etc. You can see the Bonny and Clyde car, the CSI car, an old drive in theatre of the 1960's with cars of that period. I am Manny's friend but he would not want me to brag about him because he is modest in every way, however his work is astonishing when you see it live. This book gives a glimpse of artistic genius and a memory of a by gone era. If it were not for these cars and their time period, you may not exist. Your grand parents drove these cars and visited the junk yards where parts etc. were available and kept these junkers going for another week maybe a month, who knows. During that time period one did what one had to do to keep going. There were no cell phones, AAA towing, no money down financing, credit cards, easy money, super highways, television, GPS, etc. when you got stuck somewhere you were truly STUCK. Now we have all those things in our wrist watch, and they laughed at Dick Tracy. Parents told their children there will never be anything like that,, its impossible, and we still complain. Well look over these pictures and imagine your self stuck somewhere in one of these cars. Is today better than then? I don't know for sure, back then my only worry was my car. Well today is a rather good day after all, or is it? Richie

Manny is an amazing talent when it comes to rust and junk lol!

This is a great coffee table book mostly all pictures not much reading I like that lol. This guy is very talented and does some amazing work hard to tell that some of these are plastic models that he has made to look like rusted metal. Many look as if they are 1:1 cars and trucks.

About the Author

John R. Graham is Professor of Psychology at Kent State University. He began his work with the MMPI during his graduate training at the University of North Carolina in the 1960s. He is the author of several books about the MMPI and its applications as well as numerous empirical articles. He played a major role in the development of the MMPI-2 and MMPI-A and has taught workshops on the test throughout the world.

Great information

I used this book for a master's level behavioral/personality assessment course. We spent about half of the semester on the MMPI-2, and this book was really informative and helped foster knowledge around the assessment. Since ending the course, I have not kept the book, as most information you need to interpret the MMPI-2 can be found online. However, when learning about the assessment this was a great tool to understand the different scales and codes. It is laid out in an organized fashion that is easy to understand. The history is there, and then it does into the scales, sub-scales, and factors. It gives a lot of information and possible interpretations for each scale and factor, so it's easier to read it and apply what seems relevant to a client you have some background information on. When doing a blind-interpretation, it provides so much information that you have to pick and choose what sounds the most important to include. I was able to use this book to do a couple blind interpretations, and got 100% scores on each (prof's grading). For learning purposes, each student would be assigned a couple scales and codes to teach the class about, and this book was all you needed to learn enough to each everyone. It was a great book for the course. Lengthy, but helpful!

Overall this book is great for describing the MMPI-2 for you - it gives thorough descriptions of all of the scales, code types, meanings, and so forth. It is very DRY but what do you expect? If you give the MMPI-2 quite a bit and need to learn more about the personality test I would definitely recommend this book as Grahm is highly respected within the psychology field in regards to this test!

A Thorough and Practical Resource for the MMPI-2

Anyone who has used Graham's prior editions knows that the description of background of test construction, as well as the descriptions of the various scales and their interpretation, is quite thorough. As the research base continues to grow, this new 5th edition is up-to-date, especially in describing the newer RF form of the clinical scales. The revised scales for the RF are very clean/much less intercorrelated, resulting in higher clarity for us when interpreting the scales. This 5th edition of Graham's book is inclusive of the MMPI-2, the MMPI-A, and the newer RF version. That said, if you want to focus exclusively on the RF version of the test, you might want to buy the Ben Porath manual for the RF in addition to or instead of this book. Finally, this book was sufficiently comprehensive and practical that I referred to it repeatedly in teaching my center's interns the MMPI-A, and I appreciate Graham's meticulous approach to revision.

4.5 stars for the box set of the storm series 1-5. Tessa Aubrey left her corporate life after the death of her beloved aunt and now owns a pizzeria in Nova Scotia. Tessa is existing in the town of Liverpool just running the business and living above the shop until a movie production comes to town. During a storm with the electricity out she grants none other than the beautiful Mr Banks shelter from the elements. Tessa is drawn to this man and regardless of the fact he is only in town for a short while during filming, she acts on her desires.

Timothy Banks is a Hollywood actor that has captured the hearts of women everywhere with his exceptional good looks and his enchanting British Accent. Tim is the kind of guy that takes his mother to awards shows and always has a nice thing to say. He is the small town boy that is down to earth / approachable and has not let any of his fame go to his head. There is always two sides to anyone in the spotlight and Tim is no exception. With Tim's flip side it mostly pertains to his needs in the bedroom. The man is hotter than the sun and is also part of the BDSM community as a Dom. Tim is not the strict protocols and 24/7 lifestyle but he is very alpha with what he expects from his partner sexually. Tessa will be no exception to this rule as he introduces her to what he likes and learns how to please her as well.

Tessa and Tim enter into a D/s relationship and things flourish rather brilliantly and quickly yet Tessa is still holding back pieces of herself and doubting exactly what this is while Tim has to overcome trust issues since he lives such a public life. They both realize that what they have is the real deal but how do you go about an intense, all-consuming relationship that has an expiration date?

So glad I was able to read this as a box set since the way the individual novellas ended would have left me dying until I could have read the next book. Loved the storyline and the characters that are flawed but very real. I will look for more from this author again.

Tessa has isolated herself since her Aunt's death. She has just gotten through each day and on to the next. Her business is good, she has friends and now she has a to weather a storm in her small town with a movie being filmed there. This is good for the whole town with all the media and production people.

Tim is filming his next movie in this small town. When he finds himself wet and cold one evening, one person gives him a warm place to dry his clothes and warm up, until she kicks him out of her apartment, due to a remark his assistant made.

Tessa and Tim get off on the wrong foot and end up spending time with one another but the media is relentless while following Tim. Tim is used to the media in his world, it's part of it, but when the media jump onto Tessa, he feels guilty that he has brought this into her world.

Both have pasts that bring them sadness and grief. Tessa finds herself dealing with the death and mourning of her aunts death, along with the media blitz with her Tim's relationship, but through it, she realizes, she is not alone, Tim is there being strong for them both.

The characters flow with one another, their past hurts, the time spent together is all real, no splendor of Hollywood, just being real with each other. Tim gives Tessa time and space to find her place again and Tessa can only hope Tim still wants a life with her.

Tim Banks is almost perfect!! Hot Dom!!

Timothy Banks, hot Hollywood actor. Tessa, former career-obsessed business consultant, now pizza and coffee shop owner. She’s running from her past, and has settled in a new town running her own business, and made a few new friends. One stormy night, a handsome actor knocks on her door, and her life changes immediately.

Tim is in town filming a movie, and happens upon Tessa’s pizza/coffee shop. Their attraction is immediate, and between movie takes, Tim attempts to woo Tessa. Tim is a Dominant, and although it surprises Tessa, she’s intrigued by Tim’s seemingly two sides—well-mannered, easy to talk to, funny and smart; in Dom mode, he’s brings out Tessa’s darker desires.

To me, Tim was the perfect combination of hard Dom, and sweet, kind, considerate big beautiful hunk of a man. Tessa was the girl who wasn’t impressed with the trappings of a famous guy that all the women would love to have. She had her own mind, and isn’t afraid to express it. She’s just what Tim wants and needs.

I loved the box set. It was a nice, hot and fun read. The story flowed great, and it seemed longer than it was. It didn’t feel like a group of short stories, but a nice novel.

I received this ARC for an honest review, and I give it 5 stars.

Great but uncritical

Very well written and useful for understanding Muhammad and the Koran. But be aware that Lings was an enthusiastic convert to Islam and accepted the orthodox islamic views on the prophet and the book. No critical questions, but deep knowledge of Arabic and islamic traditions.

Originally, I checked this book out from a community college I was attending at the time. It is a great book and very enlightening on the life of Muhammad. I repurchased this same book from Amazon because I loved/love it so much. This book is a great addition to any believer whether he/she be Hindu, Christian, Jew, and anyone who believes in the one God.
